When Life Hands You Cabbages....

….Make Golumpkis!!! Since cabbage is abundant here, I called upon my inner Pole and made this traditional St. Hedwig’s dish. They were a little time intensive, but turned out delicious-ski! Easy recipe (with Italian flare red sauce on top!) and lots of room to improvise and add your own flavor with the ground beef/rice/garlic innards. I paired them with some snap peas and crusty bread for dinner; froze the remaining for later.

Apparently, there is a small Polish contingent in Almaty and I expected them to flock to the smells of Joey’s Kitchen as these babies in blankets were baking! FYI, I also make the best tuna melts this side of the Tian Shan mountain range…
